Society for the Encouragement for the Arts (seARTS) grant.
In August, 2012 I was awarded a grant to make three sculptures in the Rockport, MA Cultural District. Thanks to seARTS for awarding the grant, to the Rockport Cultural District for supporting the program, to the Bruce J. Anderson and Selma and Andrew Baynes Funds of the Boston Foundation for funding, and to Brackett's Ocean View, the Fish Shack, and the 7th Wave restaurants for showing the glass.
My proposal was to make sculptures of alcoholic beverage bottles for those restaurants in the Rockport Cultural District that have recently got permits to sell alcoholic drinks. Rockport was a 'dry' town from 1856 until 2005. An interesting history - look up Hannah Jumper.
There will be an opening celebration on Saturday, Oct. 13, that coincides with Rockport's "Harvest Festival." Many activities are planned then. I'll be at Brackett's from 1 to 2, the Fish Shack from 2 to 3, and at the 7th Wave from 3 to 4.
